Packing information

Here are a few notes to help you when packing and planning for your holiday.

Your cottage has guest-controlled central heating, powered by a propane gas boiler.

KITCHEN

Your cottage has an electric cooker, microwave and fridge with a small ice box.  There is a large freezer in the Information Room shared by all cottages. There is no dishwasher.  We provide washing up liquid, brush and scouring pad, tea towels, oven gloves and bin liners.  We do not provide tin foil, kitchen roll, cling film etc.  Kitchen utensils include a cafetiére coffee maker.  A full inventory is available if required.

BATHROOM

Pigsty and Stable Cottages have a large shower cubicle; the other cottages have a bath with over-shower.  A baby bath is available on request.  Orchard and Carters Cottages have an additional WC.  We provide bath and hand towels, bath mat, toilet roll and cleaning materials.

BEDROOMS

Beds are made up with duvets.  Spare blankets are available.  Please provide your own cot bedding if necessary and beach towels.  There is a hairdryer provided in each cottage.

SITTING ROOM

All cottages have a TV/DVD player.  If for any reason you would prefer a video player, please let us know in advance so one can be put in your cottage for the duration of your stay.  With the exception of Hayloft Cottage there is a ‘living flame’ gas or electric fire as a focal point to the room.

LAUNDRY FACILITIES

There are washing machines and tumble dryers in the Laundry Room, shared by all cottages.  Soap powder is provided.

COMMUNICATIONS

Mobile phone reception is not brilliant here, but it is getting better all the time.  You will probably not get a signal inside your cottage.  There is a payphone in the Information Room. (01308 482681)   Incoming calls can be taken, but obviously only if there is someone in there to hear the phone ring.  We can take urgent messages by phone (01308 482630).  In addition Wi-Fi is very limited at present.

TENNIS COURT

Please be considerate of other guests when using the court at busy times.  We have a selection of tennis rackets and balls for you to borrow if you do not have your own.

FISHING

You are welcome to fish in the lakes, but please use barbless hooks.

FOOD SHOPPING

There is a farm shop at Modbury Farm, approximately a mile away on the road to Burton Bradstock.  The ever-increasing range includes milk, eggs, vegetables, frozen meat, delicious Jersey ice cream, jams and chutneys, apple juice etc. etc.  The shop has a trust box for payment.

2½ miles away in Burton Bradstock there is a Texaco garage with an integrated Spar convenience store.  Local supermarkets include Morrisons, Co-op and Somerfield in Bridport (6 miles) and Tesco in Dorchester (12 miles).  Tesco will deliver to Rudge Farm.
