The Lake

Enjoy fishing or boating on our lakes below the farm

Our boating/Fishing & wildlife lake

Our beautiful lake at Rudge Farm Cottages is the perfect spot for a peaceful day of boating, fishing, and wildlife watching. Just a short stroll from the cottages, the lake is well stocked with roach, carp, rudd, tench, and perch, making it ideal for relaxed, leisurely fishing rather than serious angling. With two rowing boats available, guests can enjoy a gentle paddle around the entire lake, taking in the stunning scenery and abundant wildlife. The lake is home to plenty of ducks and their fluffy ducklings, and if you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of the dazzling blue flash of a kingfisher. Whether you’re casting a line, drifting on the water, or simply soaking in the tranquil views, the lake offers a wonderful escape into nature.

Perfect country retreat - First class comfortable accommodation in the Gardeners Cottage. Set in the beautiful Dorset countryside, we couldn't have wished for more. No hesitation in recommending Rudge Farm to my family and friends.

Stephen, St Albans

We stayed in 'Pigsty Cottage'. So beautiful, we had our own little veranda & stunning views overlooking the lakes & surrounding countryside. A short drive to Chesil Beach. The cottage is well equipped & comfortable. A jug of milk & a selection of tea & coffee was a lovely welcome!

Maryann, Kent

Just spent a long weekend here and must say thoroughly enjoyed it. Stayed in Carter's cottage, lovely and warm and cosy and spotlessly clean. Went with our daughter and one year old grandson. Perfect for families so much there to do - would love to go back in the summer months although weather was kind to us sunny but cold. Very well equipped all you could possibly want with good local pubs.

Susan, Surrey
