Can we book our holiday at Rudge Farm Cottages with confidence?

Rudge Farm Cottages has been offering holidays for nearly 20 years and we are members of the local tourist association. All our guests are asked to give an honest review at the end of their holiday and you will find these on TripAdvisor and our Facebook page.

How can I book my holiday at Rudge Farm Cottages?

You can book your holiday at Rudge Farm Cottages here on our website, just click the Book Now button. When you find availability for the self catering cottage you are interested in you will be able to click on the dates and choose the length of your stay and complete the booking form.

You will then be asked to submit a deposit payment via credit or debit card (through our PCI compliant SagePay gateway). Once this is submitted and the payment accepted, the holiday cottage is booked and will show booked on our availability calendar. Shortly afterwards you will receive a confirmation email from us detailing your booking and providing you with some useful information regarding your holiday with us.

What if I don’t want to book online and use online payments?

If you would rather not book online please email or call us with your enquiry and we will confirm price and availability and send an email with payment instructions to confirm your booking. Please note that your booking will not be confirmed until we have received payment of a deposit.

How much is the deposit and when is the final payment due?

We require a 30% deposit when you make your booking and then the balance six weeks prior to your holiday. We will send an email reminder with a link to complete the payment by credit/debit card when the balance is due, so you don’t have to rely on your memory.

We do not charge any credit or debit surcharges but if you would prefer to pay by alternative means you can do so by BACS (internet transfer) or cheque, please let us know by email and payment details will be sent instead.

What payment methods does Rudge Farm Cottages accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards (except American Express) at no extra cost to yourself. All payments and card transactions are tokenised in the SagePay gateway for complete PCI security using the format xxxx xxxx xxxx 1234 for your complete online safety.

You may also pay by BACS transfer or cheque (made payable to Rudge Farm LLP) but please note your booking will not be confirmed until payment has been received.

Does Rudge Farm Cottages take a damage deposit?

We generally do not take a damage deposit although we reserve the right to charge this in certain circumstances. We therefore ask that you respect the trust we place in you to look after your holiday cottage and the facilities whilst there.

By making a booking you agree to accept responsibility for any damage that may be caused by you or any member of your party. We don’t mind the odd broken plate or glass, but in the event that you do notice damage or items missing in the accommodation please let us know immediately so that we can rectify matters for the next set of guests.

What’s included in the price of your holiday at Rudge Farm?

All our rates including bed linen, towels, electricity, heating and Wifi (via our WiFi hotspot). We also provide cots and highchairs free of charge. In certain cottages you are able to request an extra child’s bed which can be supplied at an additional cost of £20.

Do I need holiday cancellation insurance?

You are not required to have any cancellation insurance but we would recommend it and you can opt to have cancellation insurance with a third party provider (Booking Protect) through our online booking system.

Do you allow pets at Rudge Farm Cottages?

Unfortunately we do not allow pets at Rudge Farm Cottages.  If you require details of a local kennel or cattery please let us know.

When can I arrive at Rudge Farm Cottages and what is the departure time?

You can arrive anytime after 4pm – we always leave the keys to your self catering cottage in the door so you can let yourself in at whatever time you arrive. Departure time at the end of your stay is before 10am.

Are any of the cottages at Rudge Farm suitable for disabled guests?

Shepherds Cottage is suitable for wheelchair users as it has level access to the cottage and is all on the ground floor with level access. It also has an accessible bathroom with grab rails around the bath and toilet.

Please note we do not have any official disabled rating for this holiday cottage so please contact us if you have any questions. You can also find a full access statement on our website.

Do you have mobile reception and is there a payphone?

Mobile phone reception is getting better all the time with several networks providing a signal (currently O2 & Vodafone signals are ok whereas EE and Three less so) however you may not get a strong signal inside your cottage. If you require there is a payphone in the Information Room (01308 482758).

Incoming calls can be taken, but obviously only if there is someone in there to hear the phone ring. We can take urgent messages by phone (01308 482630).

Do you have Wifi?

Broadband in our part of rural Dorset is not exactly super fast at present (although we are expecting fibre optic broadband at some point) however we now have a free WiFi hotspot in the information room for use for all our guests.

Our incoming broadband signal can’t at this stage support video streaming etc. but it can allow everyone to check emails, search on Google, and use facebook and other social media.

What are the parking facilities at Rudge Farm Cottages?

There is plenty of parking space in our car park which is behind the Games Barn and there is level access to the cottages.

Where are the nearest shops?

There is a farm shop at Modbury Farm, approximately one mile away on the road to Burton Bradstock. The shop is open all the time, with a trust box for payment. Just over two miles away in Burton Bradstock there is a village shop in the Post Office and a Spar at the garage. Local supermarkets include Morrison’s, Co-op and Waitrose in Bridport (6 miles) and Tesco in Dorchester (12 miles).

The following supermarkets will deliver to Rudge Farm – Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose. If you put the name of your self catering cottage in your booking, the drivers will deliver directly to you. Please ensure you book a delivery slot when you know you will be around to receive it.

What Our Guests Say...

Great family fun - We had a great family trip with 14 of us sharing three adjacent cottages to celebrate a family birthday. Whilst we were only there for two nights, the facilities on site were great and kept the three children entertained and busy.

Simon, Cambridge

By far the best place we have stayed. Lovely warm welcome, cottages delightful and scenery stunning!

Judith and Steve, Cambridgeshire

If your looking for a peaceful holiday in the deep countryside this is perfect. The wildlife is great with so much to see and the most wonderful walks on your doorstep.Pigsty cottage was excellent for us and the view from the cottage was stunning.

Toby, Carmarthen

My family has stayed here many times including two visits this year. The cottages are very nice and have everything you need. They are user friendly and you don't feel continuous panic if you have young children there! The grounds and setting are completely stunning. My family and I lay in the garden outside our cottage and listened to the sound of the birds wings whirring through the air as they sped around the buildings. We are talking seriously peaceful!

Craig, London

Just spent a long weekend here and must say thoroughly enjoyed it. Stayed in Carter's cottage, lovely and warm and cosy and spotlessly clean. Went with our daughter and one year old grandson. Perfect for families so much there to do - would love to go back in the summer months although weather was kind to us sunny but cold. Very well equipped all you could possibly want with good local pubs.
