
Amazing Beaches of West Dorset

Hive Beach
Hive Beach on the beautiful Jurassic Coast is near Burton Bradstock and close to Rudge Farm. This popular Dorset beach is never overcrowded so is a great place to spend the day. It has probably one of the best beach cafes on the South Coast called the Hive Beach Cafe. The cafe has received rave reviews including from the Times and has a year round excellent seafood menu as well as a great ice cream parlor

West Bay BEACH
West Bay is located just south of the town of Bridport and has a picturesque harbour. The pier at the harbour affords stunning views along the Dorset Coastline towards Weymouth and Lyme Regis. There are also a number of walks from West Bay along the Jurassic coast. Around the harbour are a number stalls offering some of the freshest fish and chips you will find. TWest Bay harbour and beach were recently used in the highly popular TV series, Broadchurch.

Seatown BEACH
Seatown is a small shingle beach just south of the village of Chideock and provides a great view of Golden Cap, the highest point on Dorset’s coastline. Almost on the beach is the very popular Anchor Inn which serves great food and drink and is open all year round.

Charmouth BEACH
Charmouth offers a large beach and is part of the Jurassic Coast. It is most famous for its fossil hunting and is probably one of the best places to find fossils in the UK. At the beach the Heritage Coast Centre has fossil workshops and runs guided fossil hunting tours.

Lyme Regis BEACH
Lyme Regis offers a beautiful and safe sandy beach as well as great views of teh Dorset coast from the historic cobb. The beach has a promenade filled with cafes and restaurants so you can sit back and relax watching the world go by. The far end of the beach boasts the famous Cobb which has featured in several films such as ‘The French Lieutenant’s Woman’. Behind the beach are beautiful gardens and is home to the new Mark Hix fish restaurant. The high street is only yards away from the seafront and offers an interesting array of one off shops and cafes.

Weymouth
Weymouth offers a gently sloping sandy and safe family beach making it one of the most popular beaches in West Dorset. The beach has a multitude of attractions including a funfair, sand sculptures and a host of cafes and restaurants. There are also a number of traditional beach activities including donkey rides, pedalos and punch & judy shows.
